The Castlegar ‘Midgets also won the toumament ‘Fair Play Trophy for being the ‘most sportsmanlike team and hav- ‘ing received the least penalties. ' Eleven teams competed in the championships, ten from around BC and one from the Yukon, ‘which were split into two divisions. We're in the playoff round regardless of what happens but that’s no excuse, they just out worked us and hopefully it won't pen again.” Salmon Am was leading 2-0 with 13 minutes elapsed in the first period, but just three minutes later Johnny Stilaeff and Dustin Rilcof tied it for the local team with assists going to Mike Hunter and Ryan Jolly. Nino DaCosta converted a pass Hunter to score early in the sec- ond while Jeff Evdokimoff and Tom Phipps helped Chris Baba- Kcaiff follow it up later in the period. Castlegar then advanced to the semi-final game against the Alder- grove team that evening and won by a comfortable margin of 7-3. Goals by Strilacff, Kazakoff, and DaCosta gave the Midgets a 3- 1 lead over Aldergrove, ultimately the runner-up for first in the A division, by the end of the first. Castlegar tallied an additional four goals during the second and although Aldergrove netted another in the third, it proved to be no more than a token effort as the home team closed the game leading by four.
