Study says mill closure

The closure of the Ceigar pulp mill
would severely damage Castlegar’s
economy and would have negative
spin-off effects on the economy of the
entire region, a study commissioned
by the Castlegar Chamber of Com-
merce concluded.

About 1,000 jobs would be lost
regionally if Ceigar is denied gover-
mment approval for the company’s

about $32 million a year and sales by
