212 Recycling arrives in Castlegar Martin Meyer Recycle Advisory Group Saturday, April 4th. Mark it on your calendar, and draw a red circle around it. It’s a special day. It’s the day that you'll be able to drop off your old news- papers at a recycle depot right here in Castelgar. Volunteers from the USCC, the Scouts, and from the Unit- ed Church are all working to- gether to sponsor this one-day event. They have made ar- rangements to borrow the big truck from RDCK Recycles in Nelson, and use it to set up a temporary collection depot. It is to be located at the Safeway parking lot, from the hours if9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteer members of the Recycle Advisory Group also plan to be at the truck that Ladies busy in Robson The Ladies Auxiliary to the Robson Fire Department held its annual meeting recently. Last year’s president gave a special thanks to the mem- bers, firemen, wives and those who supported fund raising events throughout the year. In 1991, the auxiliary held a St. Patrick’s Day tea, did concession for a pool tourna- ment and the firemen’s hose competitions. They also took part in the Robson Christmas Craft Fair. With the fundraisers held throughout the year, the aux- iliary was able to buy a kitchen table and chairs , a freezer and donated to Castle- view Care Home. The auxil- iary collected toys and food for the Christmas Hampers, while oranges and candy canes were taken to Moun- tainview and Castleview. The auxiliary’s new presi- dent is Judy Rempel, while Vice President is Sharon Tay- lor, Secretary is Kathy Seville, Treasurer is Janice Johnson, Sunshine and Advertising is Darline Edwards and phoning SAWS SHARPENED (INCLUDING CARBIDE) Recycling and You day, and will be able to provide advice on how to sort newspa- pers and flyers, and will be able to to discuss issues relat- ed to recycling other materials as well. We recognize that a lot of people from the Castelgar area are interested in recy- cling, and would like to make a personal contribution to re- cycling, but feel frustrated be- cause there is no depot in town. We are hoping that this event will prompt a lot of peo- ple to get involved for the first time. After all, nobody can use the excuse anymore that there’s no depot! Prior to dropping your pa- pers off, sort them so all other grades of paper and foreign materials are removed. Lay them flat in a cardboard box or in a bag. Separate colored fly- ers from the _ ordinary newsprint. Please help make this event a success. Even if you've only got a few papers you are en- couraged to drop them off. If things work out well, the same volunteers have’ tentative plans to repeat the event again in May and June. It could possibly also lead to col- lection of other recyclables in the future. s Ge (ME. 365-5304 FES Rav! \] Nednesday, March 4, 1992 CHICKEN TIME’S PEEL & wi Peel & Win a FREE Box, Bucket, Barr or peel your own discount of a $1.00; $2.00 oF $3.00.
