Missing from the photo is second-year Brownie Letisha Islip. Kootenay Temple No. 37 Pythian Sisters met in the Masonic Hall on Dec. 10 with 18 sis- ters and one brother in attendance. Pat Verzuh chaired the meeting in the ab- sence of MEC Jan Neumann. Patricia Moore gave a report on the Vintage Car Supper held in the Senior Citizens Hall and catered to by the Pythian Sisters. Net proceeds will go to Pythian Sister in Kamloops who has a granddaughter requiring medical treatment in the U.S.A. Final nominations of officers for the ensu- ing year was held with Pat Verzuh as MEC, Manager Susan Bycroft (also Grand Manag- er), Protector Lou Ann Bush, Guard Kathleen O'Flaherty, Junior Carol Churches, Seniors Bernice Barrass, Secretary Patricia Moore, Treasurer Margaret Moore, Musician Joan Marks, three-year trustee Joan Marks, and press correspondent Myrtle Thomas. Following the meeting a Christmas skit was put on by Churches, Bush, Bycroft, Moore and Barrass. Pythian supper helps Kamloops sister The meeting ended with an exchange of Christmas gifts and Secret Pal Gifts and the singing of carols. Refreshments were served, thus concluding sessions to the new year. A mini-raffle was held with the sum of $25 going to cerebral palsy. Many items of nonperishable foods was do- nated by the Pythian Sisters for the Salvation Army Food Hamper. The sum of $200 was given to the Legion Food Hamper fund and Japanese oranges and cookies to both Castleview Care Centre and Mountain View Lodge. A lively audience participated in the puppet show with gus- to, everi to the extent of being sprayed with sea water when the grinch sank the mail boat. Our popular library Christmas program started with a car- ol sing-a-long and ended with a visit from Santa who came loaded with goodies for everyone. Norman and Glenys New are pleased to announce the marriage of their son Warren New to Stacey Ann Green- wood in a garden ceremony Sept. 12 at the home of the bride’s sister. _Polly Chernoff officiated the double-ring ceremony in a beautifully decorated yard adorned in the colors laven- der and white. Greenwood’s best friend, Rhonda McLean, was matron of honor while her niece, Lisa Tipping, was the flower girl. The bride wore an off- white coat-dress trimmed with antique lace, and car- ried a bouquet of red roses, white carnations and baby’s breath. The Legion Hall was beautifully decorated for the reception with pink and white streamers and bou- quets of fresh flowers. Guests enjoyed a two-tiered wedding cake made by the bride and decorated by Dix- ie Rizzotti with white icing and pink flowers. The cake was topped with a crystal Santa Claus is everywhere these days, including the local library. The jolly fellow paid a visit to Castlegar, handing out goodies for everyone. IN) MEMORY Gladys Margaret Johnson On Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1992, Gladys Margaret Johnson of Castlegar passed away at the age of 76 years. Funeral service was held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 19, 1992, with Rev. Ann Pollock officiating. Burial was at Park Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born April 26, 1916 at Minnedosa, Man. She grew up at Brandon, Man., and moved to Trail in 1942. On March 6, 1942, she married Edwin N. Johnson. They moved to Castlegar in 1947. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Castlegar United Church, Past Matron of the Minto Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed flower gardening and family activities. She is survived by her husband Edwin, one son, Robert of Osoyoos, two daughters and sons in law, Phyllis and Rick Paulson of Logan Lake and Geri and Chris Moffat of Castle- gar, four grandchildren, one sister, Verna Johnson of Nanaimo and one brother, Carl Baglow of Vancouver. Mrs. Johnson is predeceased by one son, Allen, one grand- son, Jason Paulson, three sisters, Mildred Smith, Elna Crane and Irene Speedy and one brother, Ralph Baglow. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel. bell with two doves — a gift from Greenwood’s sister Joyce.
