While the Salvation Army has only been in operation for one year in
ar, 1993 marks our 75th Anniversary in Trail. Perhaps our mis
ement best sums up who we are as a Christian organization
vation Army, founded in 1865, is an international religious
and charitable movement organized and operated on a Quasi-Military
pattern and ‘is a branch of the Christian church. Its membership
includes officers {elergy), soldiers/adherents (laity), members of varied
activity groups and volunteers who serve as advisors, as: les and
committed participants in its service function
The motivation of the organization is love of God and a practical
concern for the needs of humanity. This is expressed by a spiritual min-
istry, the purposes of which are to preach the Gospel, disseminate
Christ truths, supply basic human necessities, provide personal
counselling and undertake the spiritual and moral regeneration and
physical rehabilitation of all persons in need who come within its
sphere of influence regardless of race, colour, creed, sex or age
Locally we are known for our Thrift Store and Food Bank Qpera
tions. We are in place to provide crisis intervention and personal coun-
selling services. Our growing congregation provides a full range of

The children of Donna Gaylene Jory and Richard Alexander Dun-
lop are pleased to announce the wedding of their parents on June 27,
1993. After a companionship of over seven years the couple were
united in a marriage at a small family gathering on the beach at
Syringa Park near Castlegar. The bride was given away in marriage
by her eldest son, Daniel and her sister Leslie Joice. The couples’
witnesses were close friends Doug Rutherford and Sharlene Imhoff,
and Ken and Marcella Chernoff. The ceremony was-officiated by
marnage Commissioner, Mrs. Polly Chernoff

- Obituary

passed away suddenly on July 3,
age of 72 years. Nick will be dearly missed by his fam-
ter, Lorraine Saprikin of Kamloops; sons, Paul (Sharon),
Ken (Ann), Rick (Mary) Hoodicoff, all of Kamloops; Len (Carol)
Hoodicoff, of Cranbrook; Wayne Hoodicoff of Castlegar; sisters,
Ann Kalesnikoff and Mary Voykin, both of Castlegar, as well as

ceased by his loving wife Elizabeth in February of this year.
Faneral service was held Thursday, July 8, 1993 in the Glade
Community Hall, Glade. Interment was in the Glade Cemetery

with Kamloops Funeral Home in care of the atrangements.

On Tuesday, July 6, 1993, Paul Soobotin of Krestova, B.C
Passed away at Kootenay Lake District Hospital at the age of 72
years.
