SPORTS Kootenay Juvenile Men's Volleyball team off to Provi ncia S By BRENDAN HALPER Sun staff writer The Kootenay Volleyball Club’s Juvenile Men's team will be heading to the Provincial Championships in White Rock, Apr. 27 and 28, Coach Mike Perra said that his team is not looking forward to playing in White Rock, “although we've only lost to them once,” “They're probably the biggest club in B.C. right now and the White Rock coach recruits from all over the province,” said Perra. “She's taken players from our area already and that definitely hurt During the 1990 season the Juvenile’s lost three players to the White Rock team. | The winner of the Provincials will be qualified to compete in the Nationals to be held in St. Johns Newfoundland May 8-11. “T think the chances of us mak- Local team The Kootenay Volleyball Club hosted the 1991 Midget Boys B.C. Provincial Volleyball Champi- onship Apr. 13-14 at Sclkirk Col- lege. The nine teams participating were split into two pools, pool A consisting of the host team Koote- nay Midgets, White Rock White, Quonset Selects, Mission and Spike Force #2 from Penticton. Pool B included Penticton’s Spike Force #1, UVIC, Elkford Celtics and White Rock Blue. UVIC took the gold, followed by Penticton with the silver, and White Rock capturing the bronze.
