South Slocan Hospital Auxiliary South-Slocan Hospital Auxiliary held its June 4 meeting at the West Koot- enay Plant No. 3 Hall. Sixteen members were present ior this last meeting prior to the summer recess. The auxiliary’s bank bal- ance was reported to be growing. The Baby Case rea- lized over $180 for the month. The auxiliary has a contest going amongst its members for the summer. Prizes to be awarded in September for first prize; also a prize for the most unusual way. Old Timer’s Reunion is being held on July 19. Ser- ving the breakfast will be Winning Provincial number The June 26 Provincial winning ticket number is 6610131. This ticket, with its complete number, wins $500,000. Candy Stripers’ banquet and awards night was held June 11 at Mama Rosa's, attended by Mary and Doug Axworthy, Sadie and Buddy Hammond, Helen Zarikoff, Vera Budlyke and Betty McRae. Jodie Scott was mis- tress of ceremonies. It was noted that the Candy Stripers’ had volun- teered 2,483 hours to the Kootenay Lake District Hos- pital from Sept. /80 to June 781, The humorous skit the girls performed had the audience laughing — even when the performers couldn't remember their lines and the promptors couldn't find the lines on the copy. Sadie Hammond presented awards for 50-hour service. Doug Axworthy presented awards for 250-hours service. Candy Striper of the year award, presented by Steve Jessome, was won by three young ladies: Jodi Scott, Joanne Hendrix and Jackie Purdy. They were presented with a plaque and a cheque to help them over the summer. The girls presented Dianne Strader with a plant for her new home.
