To all my fellow members of the Legion and the members of the newlyelected executive, may we all look forward to a banner year in 1983. To the ladies of the auxiliary, thanks for a good year just past and wishing you all the very best in the year ahead. To all those gents who congregate at the curling rink on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week to . engage in a sport we all enjoy so much, may you have a ha PPY holiday and come out again on Jan. 4 all prepared to enjoy the last half of our season in the same spirit of fun as you have shown since our club was firsUormed. To all the people who are responsible for keeping the rink in operation, Jack, Desi, Babs and every one of you who work at the job of making and keeping the ice ready for use at all times, I would like to say how much we appreciate your efforts and pass along my wishes for a really happy holiday and a brighterN~wYear. The Rossland Warriors held a Christmas partyj usta couple of days ago and·I was invited to go but I got my dates mixed up and did not attend, however, I want to give my best wishes to everyone connected with the team for a really happy and relaxed Christmas break and the hope that the latter half of the KIJHL schedule in 1983 will prove more to your liking than it has so far. May more of the close ones wind up in your favor than they have in the past. I don't know if the boys from out of town will be going home for Christmas or not, I hope you find a place to enj oy the Christmas season in our town where I'm sure you will be welcome and among people who appreciate the job you are doing for our hockey team and our town's image. To wind up this greeting list I want to say to all those of my friends who are alone in the world at this time, may you find someone to share the Christmas season with and look forward to a brighter year ahead. This week the B.C. Junior 'B' Hockey team played some games in this area . Several players frm the local league are members of that team and this comer would like to offer them the best wishes for success when they travel to the games against the other provinces. The Canadian Junior team now in Russia to try to retain the World title they won in convincing fashion last year will be severely tested no doubt. We'd hope they will realize their hopes for a repeat of last year's success. You know with all the hockey on the local scene' we sometimes tend to forget those guys who make up the rosters of the teams that play strictly for the kick they get out of it. Rossland has its play-for-fun league and Trail its Commercial, Beaver Valley and Castlegar both have their equivalent leagues. These guys really do a great job of promoting hockey interest and are all to be congratulated on the job they are doing, maybe the action is not as polished as the junior and senior hockey we have here but they sure put a lot of efforts into it. My best to you all wherever you maybe. · And lastly, to all the little guys who play in the minor leagues. To every last one of you and all those wonderful guys who give so much of their time to helping you reach those goals you strive for, may you have a wonderful Christmas season and look forward to a grand New Year. So long, for now, and keep smiling.
