Kootenay Lake Fishing Activity on the Upswing Jones Boys Marine Release Activity at the Jones Boys Marina in Kaslo, has been in- creasing rapidly, as boaters and fishermen from across Western Canada and the Northern States head out onto Kootenay Lake. The fish are bitin’ and all's right with the world. Warm summery eveings have brought the fisherfolk out in droves to angle the friendly water. Few people have come up empty- handed. All three major species of . Kootenay Lake sport fish are running strong. The ever-popular Kokanee, a red-fleshed member of the coastal sockeye family, are being hooked with great suc- cess, with six-to 20 being an. average evening catch. These fine-eating fish are taking the usual wedding rings and Kokanee Killers, but this writer swears by a novelty lure called a spin-n-glow. One recent evening, six of the little scrap- pers launched themselves into the boat in the space of 20 minutes. The big fish are also coming in strong since about mid-May. Dolly Varden have been reported from three to 11 pounds and Rainbow have weighed-in between two and one-half to 25 pounds.
