What's in a name? Just ask
Clifford, now Victor Olson.

Selling vacuum cleaners is
tough enough. People don't
buy a lot when times are .
hard, so it's difficult for a
salesmen toget his foot in the
door.

But when he is stuck witha
name like Clifford Olson, it's
even tougher.

That's why Clifford James
Olson, 87, of Quesne, B.C.
heaved a sign of relief re-
cently when his application
for a change of name was
finally approved and he could
begin legally calling himself
by another name,

Now he's Victor Harold
Olson and he’s once again
able to make a living.

“Being a door-to-door
salesman, I run into lots. of
the public,” Olson said in a
telephone interview from his
home. “But when this Olson
stuff started coming out,
people woudin't talk to me.
They wouldn't let me into
their house.

“I met two women, and if
they had had a gun, they
would have shot me.”

Olson stayed with the
name until the end of last
year, but it was rough ever
since the RCMP announced
last summer that they had
arrested Clifford Robert Ol-
