Both spoke very highly of him and remem- bered him as being not only a straight- A student, but a man of considerable practicality, sympathy and under- standing. The priests had motored from the coast to Nelson: to attend the in- stallation ceremonies of the bishop in Nelson and stopped enroute in Castlegar to have lunch with John Charters, a substitute teacher at the monastery, his wife Bunny, and with Father Amando Maglio of Trail, a mutual friend. In the course of their visit, they toured Zuckerberg Island Heritage Park and the Chapel House, of which they had heard a great deal, but did not have. time for the Castlegar Rail Station. While they were not impressed with driving on the winter roads, they ex- pressed delight with the park and house, and expressed the hope that they might have the opportunity to visit the area again. They were assured that Castlegar had a reputation for year-round hospitality and a beauty for all seasons, and the hope was ex- pressed that greater time on another occasion would give their hosts the CasNews photo by John Charters opportunity to prove it The installation of Mallon is also seen as a means to a greater com- munication and understanding bet. ween the Coast and the Interior of the province. Enthusiasm mounts Enthusiasm aniong parents, students and staff of Mount Sentinel secondary school is high as plans progress for the first substance-free after grad_party, Good Times Grad ’90. The party will take place at the school following traditional graduation ceremonies. Mount Sentinel recently received a grant of $3,000 from the B.C. com- munity action program. Funds will be shared between the after-grad party and other programs party. A raffle was held in December and another is planned in February. Buttons‘promoting Good Times Grad ’90 are being sold throughout the community. The after-grad party provides an ‘opportunity for-students_to_havea good time without the use of alcohol or other drugs. Dance music will play for the entire night. Other activities will include a hula contest, food fight, a cartoonist, fortune teller, videos, in the school, a news release says. The grant is administered by the Nelson Community Resources Society. Parents and students are also ac- tively involved in raising funds for the ‘lug contest, a casino, and much more. Food will be plentiful and tasty ‘‘mocktails’’ will be served, the release says. The party-will end the following morning with a pancake breakfast.
