This year, Closkey says, Lam- brick Park could lose their crown. He said it’s hard to judge the island team because they didn’t Play any of the other competitors during the season. That means second ranked S.H. will have the best chance they've had in a long time for a Provincial title. A position which has surprised Closkey, who is in his 24th year as Rockettes coach. “At the beginning of the year I didn't think we were going to be any good,” Closkey said. “We didn’t set any team goals but they played exceptionally well early in the season. In January, I talked to them and they said ‘We want to go for it."” Last summer Closkey was rec- ognized by Basketball B.C. for his long service to the sport. But in almost two and a half decades, Closkey has never won a provin- cial title. And if the team does win it all - this year it will be exceptionally sweet for the coach. Closkey has two daughters, Laurel and Wendy, on the team. Living wisely with creation When Christians around the world gather for World Day of Prayer services on March 6, 1992, concer for the the envi- ronment will be at the heart of their prayérs. They will be invit- ed to reflect on the challenge of “Living Wisely with Creation”. Prepared by women from Austria, Germany and Switzer- land, the service for 1992 is writ- ten from the perspective of industrialized countries which have experienced tremendous economic growth and advances in technology, and are only now beginning to look at the environ- mental costs of unlimited Progress. The order of worship carefully weaves together Scripture read- ings, including an exuberant psalm in praise of creation, some of the writers’ experiences in the reconsttyction of their covntries | after World War II, and concerns about the present ecological cri- sis. The Tower of Babel becomes a symbol of the yet unseen impli- cations of our high technology. World Day of Prayer is a glob- al, ecumenical movement of “informed prayer and prayerful action”. On the first Friday in March each year, people in over 170 countries participate in a common service n their own locality. In Canada, the World Day of Prayer is sponsored by the Women’s Inter-Church Coun- cil of Canada, a national council with representatives from eleven denominations. The offerings from the services are used to pro- vide study and worship Tesources, to cover costs of print- ing and distributing the services, and to support ecumenical pro- jects in Canada and abroad. The service in this area will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 in St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 513 -7th Ave., Castle- gar, BC. I. On E. hairstyles by Bonnie 366-8115 Did You Know That...
