' GET CROWN GRANTS, The cost of getting a crown grant for mining claim is small compared with the increased value it attaches to the property and particularly in the eastern market. In England it is simply out of the question to place any mining propo- sition, when the property is not crown granted. The question of title is of the most vital importance, and to those who have no opportunity to investigate for themselves, the record of a crown grant is necessary. A property that is worth anything, should be developed at least to the extent of securing a crown grant, before it is offered for any consid- erable sum. Get your claims crown granted and then if you wish to sell one great obstacle has been removed. ——e In mentioning lend paying mines in this pei last Wedzesiay, the White Bear was included, and the embarassasing part of it was that John Y. Cole, general manager of the mine, was credited as giving the information. Everyone who is posted about the mines in this locality knows that the White Bear is a promising property, but that it is not a dividend payer, and further that Mr. Cole would not say so. The only explanation is that he was misun- derstood. ‘WINNIPEG LIBERALS MEET. The Tariff and Crows Nest Pass Subsidy a Subject of Oratory. , At the annual meeting of the Winni- gz peg Liberal association, R. W. Jameson, the member for Winnipeg, addressed the meeting. In doing so he touched upon three points viz: The tariff, the Drummond County railway deal, and the bonus to the Crows Nest Pass rail- way. In regard tothe tariff, Mr. Jameson stated that although the west- ern members were not all of the same opinion, so that for the present all that could be done by himself and the other mem! was to keep on reduc- Th j the tariff each year aa much as pos- sible. Coalition of the Liberals and Conservatives Is Advocated. . wi Much comment has been caused in political circles in Montreal by an ar- ticle that appeared in this week’s issue Be s of the Monde Canadien, advocating a coalition between Liberals and Conserv- atives. As the paper is edited by Mr. Nantel, minister in the late Flynn cabi- net and one of Chapleau’s strongest supporters, the article is regarded as Jory, Significant, and as indicating the of Chapleau’s party to forces with Premier Laurier and Tarte. The latter is a warm friend of Chapleau, and he is now trying to have him ap- pointed for a second term as lieutenant- governor of Quebec. —>— Death of Patrick Clark’s Brother.
