Ritchie said the basketball camp has been a success story thanks to the work of senior girls coach Jack Closkey. “Jack Closkey has been around for more than 20 years,” Ritchie said. “He has steadily developed the girls program into a winner and that success has spilled over to the camp. “The girls (camp) has al- ways been strong,” Ritchie continued. “Slowly but surely, the guys camp also caught on.” Ritchie is just one of three instructors that will be work- ing the boys camp. He is joined by junior boys coach Doug Hickey and Castle- gar Primary’s John Eggelton. The Stanley Humphries se- nior boy basketball team will also be turning some tricks, providing instruction to the younger players. “It’s beneficial for us, be- cause our older players get to teach some of the finer aspects of basketball,” Ritchie said, “while at the same time they can learn from the teaching themselves.” The five-day camp is open to children in Grades 4 to 11, with classes from from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “We want to teach these kids as much as we can.” _—— a AnAYOpou bos ND ANNIVERSARY ”~ CELEBRATION Escape From Cooking Tonight...
