216 Wednesday, April 8, 1992 @ Rebs to get prez? Ed Mills SPORTS EDITOR A candidate for the Castle- gar Rebels presidency has come forward, The Castlegar News has learned. However, the Junior B hockey club’s outgoing presi- dent Russ Rilcof said he isn’t ready to divulge much infor- mation on the candidate in- volved. “There is someone who has responded, but he has put a couple of provisos on it, so he can’t commit,” Rilcof said. “Basically, what it boils down to is that he’s applying to coach another team, and if he gets to coach this other team then he won’t be avail- able for us.” Rilcof said he didn’t want to identify the candidate, but he did say he’s hoping something will break soon in his search for a replacement. “At this particular time their isn’t a commitment for the presidency, but I am hop- ing that something is going to be able to be worked out in the near future.” Meanwhile, just who will assume the duties of presi- coach and general man- ager was among the main top- ics of discussion at the Rebels’ annual general meeting last Thursday at the Community Complex. But the No. 1 concern, ac- cording to Rilcof, is an antici- pated drop in revenue be- cause of the provincial gov- ernment’s change in regula- tions regarding revenue from pull-tab tickets. “Our revenue is going to drop by at least $15,000 for the year and we're going to have to do some significant fund-raising to account for that discrepancy,” Rilcof said. Still, with a major recruit- ment tournaments on the horizon, getting the coach’s and general manager’s posi- tion filled as soon as possible has become a priority, he said.
