Among the missing , regulars from a year ago are Leo Telfer, Russ Broughton and Arnie Vanness, who were all skips and Dave Tweed and Father Maglio. Those thrust into the skip spots are Len Scott, Dick Cotton, Rich Watkinson and Jack Mitchell, the holdover skips are George :Kent, Phil Bateman, Doug Harrison, Norm Harry, Angus Popplewell and George Dyson. While serving only 14 minutes of penalty time in the game they skated to an impressive win over one of the better teams in, the league on foreign ice. A youngster who wishes to continue this sort of performance is bound to be receptive to a coach's admonitions to stay.as far away from penalty-time as possible. We hope this little thought on the subject will be taken for what it is worth. There is no doubt that the Warriors have a lot of latent talent on hand this year, -their skating and passing is as good as any in the league, the goal tending is excellent, the defence thus far has been questionable in that everyone is only too willing to miz it up when trying to protect the goalie. You can go so far along this . line but you have to know when to stop and that's before it goes too far and wld8tles start to blow. The Warriors don't pick up too many penalties on attack. Most of these come when they try to get out in front of the opposition net, trying to set up for a pass, the sticb come up far too easily and boom, the next thing you know the sticks drop and the clutching and grabbing starts. Maybe the win in Kimberley will give the boys a real boost in morale. We can only say, "Wehopeso." Among the new faces who will probably be on deck are Ernie McGauley, Ab Nichols, Gordie Brennan, Herb Castle, Chuck Harkness, Joe Rosse, Toby Ed worthy, Harry Lefevre and Ted Holloway and there may be more looking to grab a spol Each team will play nine games, one against each of the other teams in the competition and sit out twice during each trophy run, making a total of 11 games in each competition. With a tw~ week lapse for the holidays we can run three competitions by the latter pan of March when they will start thinking of taking the ice out of the arena. Still on curling, this time the Ladies' Afternoon Club, word from Dorothy Fines tells us they have seven rinks this season. In their first two outings Dorothy beat Helen Ling, Marg Rosse won over Gert Sandulescu and Edie Harasin beat Fanny Albe; Marg Harrison bad' the bye. The next time it was Fines and Rosse in a tie game, Ling over Harrison and Sandulescu over Harasin; Albo bad the bye. Next week I will try to catch up with the Men's Club and the Business Girls' Club and anyone else who has something going. When both are finished there will be a real hive of activity on a piece of land which previo~y was a part of the wild mountains which surround our town. Speculation is rife around town as to what is under way in RossJand, as to what is going on with all the construction. I guess it is natural for people to wonder, all this came on so quickly and the reasons for it are bound to cause a lot of thinking people to ask questions. We would · like to know, too. I have been asked on a couple of occasions to attend a midget hockey game when the Rossland team is playing and twice I have bad to miss them. I'm really sorry that something else has come up each time, just give me a call before your next game and I'll try to come out and watch you perform. It's good to see the kids who will be trying out for the Warriors in another year or so. I've been told you play a pretty good brand of hockey and I'm looking forward to seeing you at it. We bear much criticism of the Warriors and. the way
