The group is requesting Castlegar residents to ‘‘spring clean” their bookcases, closets, attics or basements and donate any books suitable for childrens ages four to 10. Donations of en- cyclopedias, children’s magazines such as Owl, Chickadee, Ranger Rick or Equinox, would also be appreciated. To spark interest in the book drive, the PAC has designated May as book awareness month and the students will be making posters, decorating book boxes and eagerly awaiting the com- munity’s response. Book donations can be drop- ped off at Castlegar Primary or sent in with students. Kinnaird Women's Institute meets The April meeting of the Kinnaird Women's Institute was held at the home of Helen Leduc with. 11 mem- bers present. Roll call was answered with used magazines to be placed at Castlegar Hospital for use by patients. A num- ber of small, dressed dolls were also donated to be sent to Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. The poster contest sponsored by the WI for Grade 6 students at Kin- naird- elementary school was judged by those present at the meeting.
