Twenty seven years of Sales and Service to
the motoring public of Trait at our present location
on Highway Drive. -

In. 1951.-“KAY MOTORS” a VANGUARD
AGENCY; managed by SVEN WILSON and formed
by Reuben Buerge of. Nelson was named after his

wife “Kay”. At-was. located on Victoria Street in the:

Trail in 1948. and: was working for Reuben Buerge ,

as Manager of ‘Empire Motors” an Austin Agency

in the'Old. Standard Motors garage on Columbia.

Avenue in. East Trail now owned by Frank Pirsh,
General Contractor. Scotty in partnership with Gii
Laycock purchased the plece of property on
Highway Drive which was ‘then a Nursery operated
by Mr. Robinson. |. -

-Scotty and Gil. opened a Standard Oil Service
Station ‘on the site with a Hillman Franchise. At
that point myself, TOM McLACHLAN and HUGH
McLACHLAN left the Dominion Garage and joined
Scotty.in Glenmerry. We then made an agreement
with. Reuben Buerge to take his KAY MOTORS

* with the Vanguard franchise, our Service Station

with a “Hillman franchise” and combine our
operations to form KAY. MOTORS LIMITED. With
the assistance of Mr. Allan ‘Jenking, Manager. of
the Bank of Commerce this. was:completed and
KAY MOTORS LIMITED became an entity...
in 1954 we acquired the :‘‘Ford Franchise”
when Mr. Monty Brothers was forced to give it up

This ‘was. after Mr. Don McLean of the

“Dominion Garage and Sales had resigned in 1955.

It should be noted that the founder President
of Kay Motors. Limited, Mr. Reuben Buerge,

President from 1954-1959, ‘died in September 1975. .

Our next President Mr. C. “Scotty” Rodden from
1959-1972, and is now living in West Vancouver,
and he and hk: -vife “Nessie” would enjoy a call or
a visit from any of their friends when they are in
Vancouver.
