Chatter By LEN WALKER ~ Castlegar has’ once’ again bounded into’ the sport scene on Saturday when the .local High School team participated in their first. basketball game of the sea- son, going down to defeat at the hands of the boys from Notre Dame College of Nelson. The Nelson boys took the game by a. 24-12 score before a fair crowd in the Stanley Humphries High School Gym. .The Nelson team was led by Ian Corner who potted 8 of the 24 points scored. For the local lads Joe Zeeban was high man with 6 markers. Off The Backboard The high ‘school boys had some- thing new added to their team on. Saturday when, between the second and third quarters, their new coach. Rennie Mitchell brought forth a blackboard on which he showed them various plays. ‘Rennie Mitchell has been lofficially appointed coach for the high school boys. Joé Zeeban, playing in the game the other night, caught my eye ‘for his’ continual efforts in checking the other team. Bud Goderis of Nelson, I don’t believe was as effective as. hd was last season when he was the spark plug of the Nelson team on near- ly every occasion that these two teams tangled. ~ The Castlegar Dominoes have given up the idea of entering the Trail League because so far they have been unable to get any- one out to practices. Also, the men at the head of the team are very dissatisfied with the financial arrangements set forth by the league commissioners. Turning to badmintom for a few moments we find that the senior club is going along very: well with a large attendance turning out every Tuedsay. — I understand that plans are under- way to form a junior club. The reason that it has been held up this long is due, so I am told, to the fact that there has been some difficulty in acquiring instructors to handle the classes and also to be responsible. I believe that in- structors have been located at last. COUCHMAN, FOWLER & _ COLLINSON AGENCIES LTD.
