IN ANOTHER
TEEN MOVIE

LOS. ANGELES (AP) — Erid Stoltz came to an
interview with his own tape recorder, but hot because he
wanted to protect himself from being misquoted.

“I'm trying to learn how to be a better interview,”
the 25-year-old actor said, “There's no school for actors to
learn-how to give an interview.

“I was so horrendous a couple of years ago. The poor
publicist on Mask showed me a 20-page transcript of an
interview she did with me, and it, was horrible. Only four
pages were usable. I have a tendency to start sentences
and get lost, not finishing thoughts, By taping interviews
and studying the transcripts, I've been able to improve:

Stoltz has had an ususual film career. After a
stunning performance as Cher's deformed son in Mask; he
was fired in mid-production from Back to the Future. He
has recovered from losing that megahit and has since
starred in three films: Lionheart, a Crusades epic
directed by Franklin Schaffner; a suspense, thriller,
Sister, Sister and the current Some Kind of Wonderful.

TEEN MOVIE

Paramount Pieture's Some Kind of Wonderfy) casts
Stoltz as a high school senior who wants to pursue an art
career instead of going to college as his father insists. The
film, which also stars Mary Stuart Masterson, Craig
Sheffer and Lea Thompson, was produced by the guru of
teen movies, John Hughes, and directed by Howard
Deutsch.

“It's another teen role, and I think it's my last,” said
Stoltz. “It's time to olay my own age.”

Stoltz is slim with a fair complexion and a thick mass
of red hair. Born in California, he spent part of his youth
on American Samoa and then later in Santa Barbara,
Calif.

As an adult, he has lived in Scotland to do repertory
theatre, Los Angeles, New York and Paris.

After his film debut as Sean Penn's surfing buddy in
Fast Times at Ridgemont High, he kept busy in movies
and television. Mask launched him into leads. He
remembers the film with a mixture of pleasure and pain.

“Everything was tough about the film,” he recalled.
“The main satisfaction was working with those incredible
people and in presenting this figure who actually lived.

“The makeup took three or four hours a day, and the
longer the picture went on, the_more difficult it became.

and Sean Bacon both writing
and passing their Warrant
Officer's exam.

Review boards were held
recently for the selection of
cadets to attend various
award course. Those apply-
ing for these courses were:
