The six chapters of the Rivers brothers story contain clues to where the brothers buried 100 pieces of gold. The first two chapters of the story are in the Sun- fest program which will come with every Sunfest button. Castlegar News is publishing the remaining chapters of the story every Wed- nesday, concluding with Chapter 6 on May 31. Decipher the clues and fill out the entry form on the back of the Suafest program and guess where the gold is hidden. Mail or bring the official entry form to the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce office before Tuesday, June 6 at 4 p-m. A draw will be made from all the correct entries and the winner will receive 100 loonies (pieces of gold courtesy of Castlegar Savings Credit Union. apter4 Late in veorueey 1989, during a storm, a rock slide loosened from the cliffs above the new highway to Salmo and blocked portions of highways. Suddenly voices and lights were getting close. Quickly, she dragged the bodies to some underbrush and hid beside them. Voice One was insisting he saw a light and Voice Two kept saying there was nothing there, it must have been a reflection. Voice One, shone his light around the area where the bodies had been and muttered something to himself about checking it out in the daylight. Voice Two kept insisting that the old Rivers brothers story was just a story and, even if this was the area where the first slide had supposedly happened and everi if the Brothers had been buried alive, there was no chance that a rock slide 100 years later would turn up the bodies and the gold. Voice One insisted on returning in the daylight and as they made their way back to the road, they argued about the Rivers brothers story. Afraid the crews would come back upat daylight, find the bodies and the gold and keep it them- selves, young Mel dragged the bodies of the two men, one at a gime, to an old abandoned cabin. She left them there, under an old tarpand quietly made her way back to her home. Then, just as quickly, they would stop and start walking again. A week after the slide, the road was finally opened, No one ever mentioned why crews were digging above the slide or why the road was closed for ofong.
