The game was tied at 1-1 after the first period, as Bruce Martin brought the Rebels into a tie midway through the period, sending a rebound home past all-stars’ goalie John Da- vidson of the New York Ran- gers. John Horcoff of the Trail Smoke Eaters had opened the scoring early in the game, deflecting a shot past Rebels’ goalie Chris Vlanich, who was outstanding in the goal for Castlegar during his 1'% peri- ods. He allowed only two goals before giving way to Rick Hlookoff, who also played well, but was the victim of some fine all-star shooting. Steve Bozek, who will be leaving Castlegar soon to at- tend Marquette University ona full hockey scholarship, was impressive during the whole game and scored the prettiest goal of the game early in the second period to pul the Rebels ahead of the all-stars, He took a perfect pass at the all-stars’ blueline from teammate Jeff Townsend and went in alone on Bob Blanchet, the Trail Smoke Eater goal. lender, who had replaced Da- vidson after the first period. - The smooth-skating cen- terman put on a couple of good moves before depositing the puck in the corner of the net for a 2-1 Rebels’ lead. Martin svored his second of the game at 7:44 for a 3-1 fead but it was the all-stars from that time on, at least as far as the scoring was concerned, “FACEOFF | BETWEEN | NHL- WIHL All-Stars a and ihe ) Castlegar Suritor.
