SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES General Regulations To be eligible for a general proficiency scholarship, a student must be enroled in a full programme of studies which must include the required courses for the year in which he is registered. Where credit has already been obtained in a required subject, another course may be substituted with the permission of faculty. The standing of students taking more than the required number of term hours will be determined on the basis of the required number of term hours to be chosen in a manner most advantageous to students. The committee on Awards, Scholarships and Prizes, reserves the right to limit the amount of money retained by a student and/or to reassign scholarships by reversion. Students wishing to apply for scholarships may do so after May 1st on application forms available in regional secondary schools or in the Dean’s office. Scholarships Government of British Columbia Scholarships These awards are available to students of the Province of British Columbia who are beginning or continuing a full programme of undergraduate studies at an institution of higher learning in the province. For details of this award, students are advised to consult their Secondary School Principals, Counsellors or the Dean. The Ruth W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship A $200 Scholarship is given each year by Neil, Lockman, Darroch and Gordon Campbell to a student in any year whose personal qualities of courage, integrity, persistence and leadership command the respect of fellow students. The recipient of the award is to be determined by the Student Government. Trail Credit Union A $100 scholarship to an able student entering Selkirk College in the Liberal Arts and Science Division. A $100 scholarship to a high ranking student graduating from Selkirk College in the Liberal Arts and Science Division and proceeding to further study. Kootenay Soft Drinks Limited A $100 scholarship to a high ranking student entering the first year of study at Selkirk College in either the Liberal Arts and Science or Applied Arts and Science Divisions. Bursaries Government Bursaries Students who undertake appropriate studies at Selkirk College will be considered for Government Bursary awards, provided they have the necessary academic stand- ing and show evidence of financial need.
