Ida Cunningham enjoys the day at Mountain View Lodge as she takes part in a little game of bowling... Forget about getting around by car. Gordon Bos spent Wednesday clearing his driveway to get the skiddoo out of the lot. Of longjohns and leotards.. I don’t mind the snow, honestly. It’s a whole lot better than the constant rain I was getting too used to on the coast. The one thing I could do without is the cold, however. I know. I’ve already been told this is not cold. And I must say it’s very comforting to hear that it can get down to minus 20 Celsius here. My father sent me some longjohns a couple months back. When I told people that I was going to get the opportunity to wear longjohns for the first time they scoffed and told me I was a wimp. Well I must be a wimp because I’ve almost worn them out and I ended up asking Santa for some more. I’ve also stocked up on thick leotards. Something I haven't Explanation points worn since I was in elementary school, or since I quit my folk dancing classes a few years back. I’ve also had the chance to wear sweaters that I never had use for in Vancouver. Actually, the snow has allowed me to revert back to ee my childhood, try things for the first time (such as longjohns and_ hopefully skiing) and use gifts that I’ve collected over the years. It’s wonderful. However, if anyone has some ideas on how to stay warm through this winter please pass them on. eco Last week’s column dealing with the problem of getting immediate help when it’s needed met with some criticism. The local dietician I spoke with felt the story portrayed Castlegar and _ District Hospital as offering services that in fact they were unable to provide — such as help for people with eating disorders. If this was the message that readers were left with, I -winter’s not all that bad apologize. My concern was that even though people tried to assist me in my search for a self-help group, it was obvious that lack of communication between agencies exists. Many people I spoke with while searching for a group agreed that this is a problem. . Moreover, money is obviously needed to hire a full- time person that will channel calls for help so people are not given the run-around when they call for assistance. Again, something a Trail dietician said was being looked at. Since the article was printed, I have been notified that a group for people with eating disorders is starting in Nelson.
