B2 CASTLEGAR NEWS, April 11, 1982 Sports - Selkirk holds athletic awards banquet By CasNews Stall Outstanding athletes of Selkirk College were honored Wednesday night at the annual. athletic awards ban- quet held at the Fireside Place. Among the athletes hon- ored were Theresa Hanlon of Trail and Christine Bourchier of Rossland, who have been named to Canadian college all-star teams. Hanlon was selected to the All-Canada basketball team and Bourchier was named to the All-Canada volleyball team. Hanlon and Bourchier were among the 10 athletes chosen for each squad. Hanlon played guard for the Selkirk College Saints and Bourchier has played with the Saints volleyball team for three seasons. She is both an offensive and defensive player. Team selections were made by the Canadian Col- leges Athletic Association at the 1982 Basketball Nationals in Calgary. Bourchier was also presen- ted with a CCAA volleyball clinic/workshop scholarship. The team attended the clinic at Toronto in December. Bourchier was named one of four most improved players at the clinic, which included teams from across the coun- try. Bourchier was also selec- ted to the Totem Confer- ence all-star team this year. Another member of the volleyball team, Leanne Malinowski, was also hon- ored, Malinowski, a setter for the team, was awarded the Labatt's Athletic Award.
