Please pre-register by phoning the. recreation ffice.. PLAYGROUND FUN All summer we will be in ground activities for youngsters.Our recreation staff supervises games, crafts and enaures a good time. On Tuesdays activities are held at the Bob Brandson Smurf Wading Pool and on Thursdays’ at Kinsmen Park. Bring the three-to-six- year-olds from,~ 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the 7-12-year-olds from 1-3 p.m. The cost is only \$2 for two hours of fun. Sunfest Days Sunfest Days are coming up and the annual Sunflower run is a great way to show some-community-spirit- The run is being held-on-July-20 and the cost is $5. You can participate in either the 10 kilometre competition or the four kilometre fun run~ This year we are being sponsored by Brocks so we have free Brooks tote bags to give out to the first 100 entrants. You can also help out the Kootenay Society for the Handicapped by collect- ing pledges for the run. SENIORS EVENTS The Senior Citizen Events, are going well as always. We, have one more day trip-for July which is to Nelson on the 24th. There is also the Seniors’ SunFest picnic on the 19th at Kinnaird Park. We are hoping seniors will come out to Kinsmen Park on July 26 to learn origami, the art of Japanese paper fold- ing, and to hear old Japanese folk stories. The Order has_ three grades of membership — Commander, Officer and Member. The new appointments include three Commanders, 16 Officers and 35 members.- Grieve was appointed as a member. Governor General Jeanne Sauve, Chancellor of the Order and Commander-in- Chief of the Armed Forces, will present the. insignia ‘to the new appointees at a ceremony in the fall. On June 5 the sisters catered to the Air Cadet banquet in the Community Complex, serving aprox- .imately 100. cadets and guests. On June 6, 12 Sisters and Knights and their spouses attended the 88th anniver- _* + sary‘ of Trail Lodge No. 23, _ and the 65th anniversary of Trail Temple No. 3 Several of the Sisters and some Brothers attended the June 13 meeting. On June 23 the Sisters had their wind-up ‘picnic prior to summer recess, one week early due to the holiday weekend. All had a good time playing darts, horsehoes and ‘other activities. The day ended with a pot-luck © supper. Twelve Sisters from Koot- enay Temple No. 37, attend- ed a “friendship meeting” with Maple Leaf Temple.No. 4, Rossland, with Sisters taking part in the opening and closing of the meeting. The final meeting was held June 27. with MEC - Lil Neumann presiding. Follow- ing the short meeting re- freshments were served by the kitchen committee. MEC Neumann ‘and Chancellor Commander Anthony Swiertz of Twin Lodge No. 70 attended aw- ards day at SHSS. They presented cheques to the following for the poster contest sponsored by Twin Rivers Lodge No. 70, and Kootenay Temple No. 37, Pythian Sisters: ~Popoff, and Brenda Hadiken $20. Laura Dewis and. Seamen - Dewis, chairman ‘of _ the Rivers, In the Grade 7 and 8:class, Paula Bycroft won first place in the poster contest. She recieved. a cheque for $25 from Twin Rivers Lodge No. 70, and $25.00 from Kootenay Temple No. 37. At Grand Lodge she placed third and received an add- itional cheque for $25.
