CORNER With the leisure time of mid- summer, there is an opportunity to laze in the sun and read a book. We would like to suggest a few. For the non-fiction reader who. yikes a good story nonetheless, . SUMMER SCHEDULE For Well-Baby Clinics ‘AUGUST 2g — 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Castlegar Legion’ Hall. ' AUGUST 27. — 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thrums General Store. AUGUST 28 — 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Robson Church Hall, SEPTEMBER 2 — 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Kinnaird Community SEPTEMBER ‘3 — 1:30 to 3:00 SEPTEMBER 4 — 3:00 to 4:00 “Ten Days to Die” by Michael W. Wusmanno, a well ted and i tion of the last ten days of Adolf Hitler in Berlin. A living story which reads like a novel, the book is on the best-seller list. If you are in a more serious frame of mind, however, then H, A. Oevrstreet’s “The Maturé Mind” might be for you. It has enjoyed a very wide success as an answer to our moral, social and political ills to-day and is re- commended reading for every thinking adult. Now if you’ve read Overstreet | and don’t care for the violence of Hitler, but can’t:get your. snap- shots’ to-develop properly, relax’ and learn. There are two handy books in the library; — for the perfectionist, we suggest “Mak- ing a Photograp! ” by Ansel Adams and for the average ama- teur there is “The Amateur Pho- tographer’s Handbook” by Suss- rian, But perhaps you want to just sit and loaf. “This Man and This Woman” by Katherine Brush, is a collection of four short novels each good for about one loaf. _ If the latest full-sized novel is more your style, a Canadian one at that ,then why not try “Where Nests the Water Hen” by Gabri- elle Roy ,author of the “The Tin Flute.” It’s light but warmly hu- man. i One last suggestion: Remem- ber “King Solomon’s Mines” | which played at the local theatre not long ago? This story and sev- eral others by the same author Lane at. your’ local? library. .. It | is, Open‘on Tuesday evenings from seven to nine. p.m. p.m. Ooteaschenia School.
