St. Laurent Meat Dish Due to. appear on the market is Prime Minister St. Laurent’s new special dish “Canada Lunch- eon Meat.” It will retail from 29 to 33 cents, it is estimated, and will be the best value in canned meats that any housewife can get. Mr. St. Laurent, noting that we could not sell our canned pork to other coutries, is reported to heve given the word himself that it should be tossed on the market for the beenfit of the Canadian taxpayer. Caught short with a surplus of pork products due to the hoof and mouth trouble, we canned our pork. The housewife reputed- ly gets 100 per cent pure pork for as little as 29 cents. One-syllable meat products of less than 100 per cent pure pork contents used to retail around 55 cents. The pure pork will drive others into the back shelves for a while.
