The team’s focus for this year is to improve customer satisfac- tion and reduce costs. “Coupled with this new leader- ship structure is a conscious effort to reduce levels of supervision and increase degrees of employee empowerment,” Bacon said. The company also embarked on a new project with B.C. Hydro, by buying a small 16.6 megawatt hydro electric plant near Lillooet for $17.7 million. West Kootenay has a 20-year agreement to sell the energy from the plant to Hydro, which will pro- duce $2 million a year in revenue. The purchase was part of a total $28.5 million that West Kootenay spent on capital investments. As well, the B.C. Utilities Commission reduced the compa- ny’s proposed rate hike of 6.7 per cent to 2.4 per cent. For 1995, the rate hike was reduced from a pro- posed 5.8 per cent to 3.1 per cent. & HEATING See us for all your natural g gas or. propane lapecong | appliances; furnaces; & installation.
