The plans forthe new First Bap- tist church are being prepared by ing and affecting to believe the re- port that-it was achance blow that knocked Corbett out. . “There was uo chance blow about it,” said Fitz:--I¢-was just the op) tunity I was fighting for and when got the opening I did not fail to put in the blow and finished the fight. There was no stage of the fight when Corbett had the best of it. Itie true that he drew first blood. But losing a few drops of blood is no werse on my constitution than shedding a few tears. JAt the end of the sixth round, when it was said that Corbett had me going, I told Julian that I was going to lick Corbett; I could feel it in my bones; I had no doubt about it. At the end of that-reund I saw that Cor- bett was able to keep his head out of my reach so I thereafter began to play on his body and when I got a chance to put in a knock out I did it and that is all there isto the chance blow story.” Gorbett has fully recovered from the effects of the terrible blow that knocked him out and is very anxious to have another match with Fitzsim- mons. He still believes the blow that ended the fight was only a chance one and that Fitz could not designedly hit him in the same place in a thou- sand years. “I had the best of the fight, but underestimated the endur- ance of my opponent and overesti- mated my own strength. I do not believe the sporting men will take the result of that fight as final. They will not conclude that the winner of thafcontest is the better man. ‘A chance blow cannot always win, and I want to show to the world that science is superior to chance. I will win back Architect Taylor. The church will have a seating capacity of between 400 and 500 people. It will be a handsome structure with an at- tractive eteeple. es DELAYED TRAINS. ways in eastern Canada. R. Marpole is mertioned as his successor. NO BLOCKADE ON THE C & W.
