CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, July 18, 1974 / Open Letter Letter ‘Concern for Adopted Children To whom it:may concern: This open letter is being directed mainly to parents of adopted children. Do you real- ize that there is. now a TMovement underway, which if passed as a law, will ‘allow natural parents to seek out the children they have’ allowed to be adopted? I find this very disturbing when I realize how hard it is for’ some young adults to reason with themselves the purpose of their lives and where their place is in this world without -2\/adding an’ unknown factor to their, lives. 5 Rare is the adopted child that doesnot realize their beginning quite early in life. A beginning many) would ‘prefer to set to the back of their minds and) be a family in’ the same manor as the natural child. If you‘ feel such a law is unjust to the child,'I urge you to voice your disapproval to a ‘From Pagel Feeder Service = (A Commutor service to Spokane has also met one half of its requirements, he stated. ‘All/necessary clearance has . been granted by: the Canadian <4 group called, Organization to Save the Adoptive Family, Box 1660, Victor If there Is to be any law passed, let it be the adopted child who recelves:the right to seek out its natural parent or parents, for they had no choice in their destiny, whereas {t was thé natural parent's choice in the first place to give the child . up. Should it become the right of the natural parent to be allowed to seek out thelr child, I feel strongly. that this be common knowledge ‘to the adopted parents at the time of the legal adoption. B.C. laws have ‘given the - adopted child the same rights as a! natural! child“ in’ its inheritance laws, why does anyone deem, it’ necessary: to | begin to distinguish them from any other family unit now?
