bride was made by Adrian
Markin, brother of the bride.
The bride's grandfather,
Tomilin, composed words of
advice to the couple.

The floral table settings of
wicker, were lovingly ar-
ranged by Mary, Olga, and
Susan. Their masterpiece of
lilac gladiolas, with huge pink
spider mums, accented the
bridal cake of two hearts
joined by cascading lilac
ribbon that outlines the
hearts.

The groom gave a speech
at the conclusion of the gift
opening. With thanks to all
for attending, he placed em.

Clarence Paul Verigin exchanged vows at the
Brilliant Cultural Centre.

Couple wed at
Cultural Centre

Brilliant Cultural Centre was the setting for a lovely
afternoon wedding, in the traditional Doukhobor custom,
which united in marriage Bonny Marie Makortoff and
Clarence Paul Verigin.

The bride is the daughter of Jack and Mary
Makortoff of Grand Forks and the groom is the son of
Paul and Mary Verigin of Pass Creek.

The bride was dressed in a traditional Russian outfit
made of a lovely imported embroidered chiffon, with an
underlay of white bridal satin.

She wore a hand embroidered shawl of white silk
roses. Both the dress and shaw! were made by the bride's
mother. The bride carried a beautiful array of cascading
lilies, roses and stephanotis which accented the bridal
party color theme.

Attending the bride were maid of honor Cheryl
Johnson, and bridesmaid Gail Cheveldave. The two girls
wore outfits made of a dusty rose bridal satin and wore
corsages of dainty pink roses accented with carnations.

The groom was dressed in a white tuxedo with a
satin trim and wore a boutonniere of a rose and
stephanotis. Bob Kalmakoff and Rick Bondaroff ac-
companied the groom in grey tuxedos with pink rose
boutonnieres.

The mothers of the bride and groom wore outfits of
dusty rose with shawls to match. The fathers wore grey
pinstripe suits with cso to mateh their wives.

course Russian meal. During. the dinner, the
enjoyed a program presented by the couple's friends and
relatives.

The traditional] part of the ceremony. was led, by Pete
Relkéff, uncle of the bride, whereas the duties of, the
masters of ceremony were performed by Brian and
Sherry Pepin. Attending the guest book were Jason and
Jennifer Semenoff of Grand Forks. Out-of-town guests
attended from Los Angeles, California, Washington,
Vancouver, Calgary, Kelowna, Kamloops and Penticton.

Following the afternoon ceremony was a social
evening and a dance at Playmor Hall.

The couple honeymooned on the sandy beaches of
Ixtapa, Mexico and are now residing in Castlegar.

Kelowna, and Grand Forks.

The bride's wish was to
have her special day cele-
brated at home. The help of
friends and relatives made it
a reality.
